About the Author
Susan D. Artof is a long time boating enthusiast from Marina Del rey California. She has collected boat names and stories for over 25 years while traveling to various harbors with her husband and two competitive sailboat racing kids. She is the author of seven books and numerous articles on a variety of subjects including psychology, a subject she taught at Santa Monica College for 23 years before turning her time to writing and sailing.

This book has been the most fun to write of any other book I've done. I get calls and letters from around the country on this topic. Yet, with 25 years spent collecting names and stories from all over, my family still spent hours naming our most recent boat - which will the Phoenix (after the mythical bird which arose out of the ashes). Why? Because the poor boat will need a complete remodel and looks like it spent the last 10 years at the bottom of the sea. Read this book to help focus your attention on how to develop a story with your name.

"There are at least three good reasons for reading Susan Artof's new book...and keeping it in your library. The value is to get you thinking and to appreciate some of the names you see in boats - a word of warning - be careful about showing someone something in the book because it might be an hour before you can get the book back." This makes a wonderful gift for boating friends and family - or yourself.
